Coaching

Building an extraordinary volunteer program is an ongoing investment that evolves over time.  Therefore, VolunteerMatters provides services to help reinforce concepts, support your users, and get your feedback so we can make certain you have the best resources and tools available.

VolunteerMatters includes weekly coaching calls for the first 90 days after launch then monthly for the next 9 months.  As a part of each call, we perform an assessment comparing the organization or site’s current achievements to the stated goals. To continue or accelerate progress, we identify and provide the appropriate support and resources.

Coaching is designed to help your volunteer program reach its full potential. Our most successful customers use these services to take their volunteerism to the next level. Coaches work with executives, managers, and coordinators, helping to define and achieve their goals for volunteerism.

An article in Public Management revealed a study where training alone was compared to coaching combined with training. The study showed that training alone increased productivity by 22.4% while training combined with weekly coaching increased productivity by 88%. Here is why:

1) Accountability. Upon initial launch of your new philosophy for volunteerism, we recommend weekly calls for a minimum of 12 weeks and monthly coaching thereafter. This regularly scheduled call prompts clients to get more done than they would if left on their own. Clients tend to take bigger actions, set bigger goals and think bigger when they work with a coach.

2) Expertise. Our coaches draw from the direct experience with hundreds of phenomenal volunteer programs.  They can help achieve greater productivity with less effort.

3) Delivery. Coaching works best with a weekly or monthly call so clients have time to integrate new ways of thinking and take action each week toward their goals. Most coaching is done by phone and delivered in half hour calls. The experience is challenging and uplifting.

4) Speed. Most people find that things start to happen very quickly with coaching.  Something that might have taken years is condensed to months or even weeks.
